Greeting Message from Chinese Leadership
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il and Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and Choe Yong Rim, premier of the Cabinet, received a message of greetings in the joint name of Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, president of the People's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, and Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, and Wen Jiabao, premier of the State Council, on Sept. 8 on the occasion of the 62nd birthday of the DPRK.

The message says:

We extend warm congratulations to you and, through you, to the Workers' Party of Korea and the government and fraternal people of the DPRK on behalf of the Communist Party of China and the government and people of China on the occasion of the 62nd birthday of the DPRK.

The foundation of the DPRK made it possible for the Korean people to take the new road of building a socialist state as the masters of the country and opened the new chapter in the history of Korea.

The Korean people have achieved delightful successes in the socialist revolution and construction in the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the Workers' Party of Korea.

We are sincerely rejoiced over this and wholeheartedly wish the Korean people steady, fresh and greater success in all fields.

China and the DPRK are the friendly neighbors linked with the same mountain and rivers.

The traditional Sino-DPRK friendship personally provided and boosted by the leaders of the elder generation of the two countries stood the ordeal of the changed international situation and became the common valuable asset of the two parties, the two countries and the two peoples.

We, together with the DPRK side, will continue to boost the exchange and cooperation in all the domains of the two countries in the spirit of "inheriting tradition, facing up to the future, building good neighborly friendship and strengthening cooperation" and put spurs to the sustainable development of the Sino-DPRK relations so as to bring the two peoples better welfare and defend the peace and stability of the region.

Kim Jong Il Sends Reply Message to Hu Jintao
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il Wednesday sent a message to Hu Jintao, president of the People's Republic of China, in reply to the message of sympathy he sent as regards heavy flood that hit some areas of the DPRK.

The message said:

I express my thanks to you for sending the message of sympathy in connection with the fact that some parts of our country were hard hit by heavy flood.

Availing myself of this opportunity, I would like to wish you fresh success in your responsible work.
