It's possible D'Angelo hasn't donned a shirt in ten years. But unless he's going to a convenience store, why should he? For the crooner, sexiness is key to the art, much as flirtatiousness is for R. Kelly. This convincing retrospective finds R&B at its most burbling and sultry.
