The Powerful Art of Storytelling
Story Portfolio (30% Individual)

Instructions:

Compile a portfolio of 6 stories which can be used for different occasions. Submit 3 stories at the first submission and another 3 at the second submission. One of your stories can be in a digital format.

Guidelines

The story write-up should include the following:

        Genre/Type of story
        Synopsis of the Story (what is it about ?)
        The purpose of telling this story
        Who the story is suitable for (the audience)
        Your reason for choosing this story
        A copy of the story (attach at Annex)
        Credit the source of the story
       
        The Portfolio should have a proper cover page.
        Use Arial or Times New Roman Font at size 12.  
        Use the template provided for each story submission.


Warning:
All works must be original and all sources of ideas and information taken from books, journals and the Internet must be properly cited and documented. Students found to have plagiarized from the works of others would fail this subject.

The Acknowledgement of Originality form must be attached to the write-up to indicate originality of work.

A child became lost in a forest. He started to cry.
　　At that moment, an elephant passed by and saw him crying.

　　"Child, why are you crying?" the elephant asked.

　　"I've lost my mother," the child said.

　　"Don't cry. I'll stay with you until you find your mother," the elephant told him.

　　"Oh! My body is going up in the air. Wow! This is fun," the child said as the elephant gently picked him up.

　　The elephant put the child on his back. "Elephant, I want to go down, now," said the child.

　　"Ha, ha! Wow! Your trunk is like a slide!" the child exclaimed.

　　"This time, it's like a swing. This is so much fun. Ha, ha, ha!" shouted the child.

　　"Elephant, your ears are like cymbals. Cling! Ha, ha! How fun it is!"

　　"Let's sing a song. Hickory dickory dock! The mouse ran up the clock! The clock struck one, the mouse ran down! Hickory dickory dock! Cling!" sang the child.

　　"Uh? There's my mother. Mother, here I am!" the child shouted.

　　"Thank you, elephant. I had a good time. If we meet, again, let's play together some more," the child said.

　　The elephant was happy because the child had a good time with him. Also, he was very happy that the child found his mother.

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

He wanted to marry his daughter to the greatest person in the world.  

But, who was the greatest person in the world?

Oh! The sun! He must be the greatest person in the world.

The mouse father went to talk to the sun.

“Hello! Mr. Sun. I know you are the greatest person in the world.

Would you marry my daughter?”

“What? I’m not the greatest person in the world. The greatest person is the cloud.

If he comes out, I’ll be covered.”

The mouse father went to talk to the cloud.

“Hello! Mr. Cloud. I know you are the greatest person in the world.

Would you marry my daughter?”

“What? I’m not the greatest person in the world. The greatest person is the wind.
If he comes out, I’ll be blown away.”

The mouse father went to talk to the wind.

“Hello! Mr. Wind. I know you are the greatest person in the world.

Would you marry my daughter?”

“What? I’m not the greatest person in the world. The greatest person is the wall.

If he comes out, I’ll be stopped.”

The mouse father went to talk to the wall.

“Hello! Mr. Wall. I know you are the greatest person in the world.

Would you marry my daughter?”

“What? I’m not the greatest person in the world. The greatest person is YOU, the mouse.”

“The greatest person in the world is … mouse?”

“Yes, the greatest person in the world is mouse. See? If mouse comes out, I’ll be bit!”

The mouse father was very happy.

He finally knew mouse was the greatest person in the world.

He would marry his daughter to the handsome mouse next door.
