A deputy shot and killed a man who was threatening suicide in Palm River, Fla., Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says.
George Louis Garrett, 66, died early Wednesday morning at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa Bay Online reports.
Deputies arrived at Garrett's home at around 3 a.m., responding to a report that a man inside had a gun and was threatening to kill himself. The call came from inside the home.
Cpl. Duane Benton, 44, shot Garrett after he came out of his home holding a gun and reportedly refused to put it down.
Bay News 9 reports that Benton was involved in a similar incident in 2002, when he fatally shot a woman who threatened suicide before opening fire on deputies.

Actually what you say about firemen is sort of true.
In some California counties if you haven't paid fire protection insurance your house will burn. There have been cases of firemen showing up to extinguish these fires at houses that have paid while others adjacent to them have been allowed to burn.

I can understand if people pointed weapons at them, but even when they don't the cop kills....hey don't shoot people in the hands, arms, legs, they immediately go center mass (heart) or head.....this is getting way too typical.....

Absolutely. The guy was not about to put his gun down and he could have easily shot the officer so that officer wasn't going to take a chance; especially, with an emotionally charged up man.

Interesting.......some officers go through their entire careers without firing a shot.....yesterday a deputy with history of killing 5 other people, shoots and kills another. Today....another deputry with a history of shooting to kill. Who gave the order to shoot?
